Our Nerdy Tradition

It’s the the winter solstice, the shortest day of the year. (in terms of daylight) It’s also known as the hibernal solstice, which occurs when either of Earth’s poles reaches its maximum tilt away from the sun. This has been discussed by my 9th grader at the dinner table of late, so it’s been on my mind. I prefer sunlight, but for night owls, it’s obviously the longest night of the year… so yay night owls.

There are many folks who celebrate this celestial “holiday” in different ways. I like the idea of it being a celebration of the rebirth of the sun as it makes its way back up here to the North. For many in the real estate industry, we are looking for a rebirth of sorts after a rocky 2023 that included commission lawsuits, expensive lead gen, high interest rates and a significant reduction in housing transactions.

I’m super proud of our team for this year, We have great people on our team. Not only did we make it through the dark times in our industry, we grew and improved all year. From a company standpoint I’m very proud of the fact that we increased our AI prediction accuracy, and also that we launched a whole new service, ReportCard with RealStat.

This next year promises to be very big for Revaluate as we have put some new relationships in place and retooled our customer journey to better mirror the needs of Real Estate agents and their databases. We want to help agents stop wasting money on expensive lead gen in 2024 – and will be ready to do so the first week of January. (set an appointment to talk with us about your database in January here) With rates predicted to drop, and pent up demand, 2024 is going to be a great year for housing transactions and you should join Revaluate for the ride.

Starting on the Winter Solstice, until January 2nd, Revaluate will have our doors closed and the lights off as our team focuses on family and friends. We’ve done this company wide shutdown for the last 6 years and its a fantastic tradition. However or what ever you celebrate in the next few weeks, I hope you take a moment to do some good for someone in need or brighten someones day – as the world could use an extra ray of sunshine these days.

Cheers.

Bonus Daylight Data Nerdery:
Revaluate is based in the foothills of the Rockies in Golden, Colorado where I will have only 9:20 of daylight on the solstice. However, how far North or South you live determines how long your day is… and we have employees working remotely all over the US. Our northern most employee is living above Portland Maine and will experience only 8:53 min of daylight on the solstice. By contrast, we have 3 employees in Florida: St Pete, Tampa and Orlando who will bask in about 10:22 of sunshine on the solstice.
