Jacy’s 4 Tips to Social Media and Leads

Today’s Mortgage and Real Estate Professionals engage with consumers on a daily basis via social media – sometimes  without any plan, guidance or thought.  This can frequently lead to trouble, however, it could be a source of strength.

All of us impact the brand we work for – Even Carl in Accounting.  So how can we reduce issues and increase production?

To answer that question, Revaluate was joined by friend of the company,  Jacy Riedman on the Revaluate stage at NAR.  She’s the head of VikingCat Social, and the long time VP at Amoura Productions as well as an event planner and frequent speaker at industry events.

Here’s Four Social Media Tips for everyone at your company  – So easy a Viking could do it.

Vikings: On Point?

There’s a lot we can learn from The vikings.  First, they were not good at managing their brand.
Most people associate Pointy Horned Hats with Vikings – even the NFL’s Minnesota Vikings mascot features these horns, however, vikings never ever wore horns. Pointy horns would be pretty impractical in battle… But time has made them an integral part of the vikings reputation.

You have an image you want to portray, not someone else’s idea of you.  So, managing your personal brand  and your company brand is important.

When a client is looking at working with you, or your brand they will do what you do –  some quick recon on social media.

They say “You never get a second chance to make a first impression”.  Drunk tweeting, religion and government views and the posting of generally inappropriate content can ding your reputation and can cost you clients or even your job.  Remember – The repercussions from bad social posts are permanent.

Angry / Thoughtless Posts

Chill out and don’t hit publish.  Seriously. If you are not willing to say it to your mother, don’t post it.

Your angry rants tell people more about you, then the company you are attacking. Remember, your prospects / clients / colleagues / next boss can easily find your rant.   It’s all screen shot-able and shareable. (and people love to share awful stuff – see above)

Feed Someone’s Ego

Don’t focus on getting likes and shares with your content.  This may be counter intuitive, but it’s a great guiding principal to social media.  If you lift up other people and like and share their content, your influence and credibility increases – and people want to be surrounded by influential and credible cool people.

Follow these tips and you will help take care of the online reputation of your company, your brand and your self.  This enhanced reputation leads directly to an increase in your bottom line.
