Diving In: CRS Sell-A-Bration, Tahoe

I’ve never bungee jumped, nor jumped out of a plane. But as a kid, I distinctly remember standing at the top of the high dive at the local pool. With the breeze in my hair, and a line behind me climbing up the tall ladder, I take it in, standing on the top rung. I watch my younger cousin Abbie, without fear, leap off the end of the springy diving board and accelerate downward, before plunging out of sight into the deep cool pool below.

I felt an odd mixture of peer pressure, FOMO, excitement, adrenaline and desire – but was also weighing the concerns, consequences and issues at hand.

And so, I jumped.

I’m sure you’ve been there before. It’s a unique feeling that stands out. I felt a similar feeling several times in life. When I started my first company – a marketing consultancy for the real estate industry. Then again in 2014 when I started Revaluate with my good friend Tim.

Today, I have a similar feeling as I pack our convention and trade show booth up for the first live in person event in many, many months. We’ve skipped so many opportunities – and 4 months ago, as things were looking better, we bought into a handful of events including NAR San Diego, Inman Connect and the first, CRS Sell-A-Bration starting Monday in Lake Tahoe.

And so here I stand, packing up brand new trade show supplies – excited, intrigued, concerned and eager to see friends IRL for the first time in forever.

There will be masks, vax’s, badges with comfort levels indicated and social distancing. All new for me in the convention and trade show space. How will the precautions work, how will our marketing and new branding go over, will it be the fun lively trade show environment I miss and desire? Will the benefits outweigh the risks?

I’m unsure. But with those concerns in mind, and with the team on board, we are ready to jump.
