Worst Rental Apartments Ever? The Unbelievable Revaluate Tale

Like I said, a story. It starts like this: last year, a bunch of Revaluate folks were …

(GAH. It sounds like a war zone out there! Hang on a sec.)

Where was I? Oh, right. The story.

A bunch of Revaluate folks had convened at a business conference when we were still in the earliest stages of development here. What we wanted to do was to create an app where people could go to find out what it was really like to live someplace, a site where people could get all the facts before they ever moved.

If only WE had had Revaluate before we booked our place for the conference!

We searched many rental apartments online–we found ours on AirBNB–it seemed great! It was a rowhouse big enough for the whole team, the location was pretty good … the pictures looked great. So, we pulled the trigger and booked it.

But we didn’t get the full story.

(Oh, for the love of all things right and holy … now there’s construction starting in the apartment upstairs. Lovely.)

When we got there, we got set up for meetings with potential clients, investors, and other such folks, but we were interrupted every few minutes by delivery trucks … garbage trucks … all kinds of trucks that were backing into the alley just outside the window. We couldn’t hear ourselves think, let alone talk.

Right then, we knew. Our mission was clear. Revaluate was …

(Honestly, people. I’m sorry. I’ve gotta get some Excedrin … all of this noise is giving me a splitting headache.)

So, yes. It was clear that Revaluate offered something the real estate world–in New York City and beyond–was missing: the ability to find out what an apartment or home was like before you moved there.

Heck … if we’d had Revaluate before we booked that place, we would have known what it was like to live there and would’ve found someplace else … and fast!
