Seaside LA Real Estate Burns. How to help.
I write this on a plane over the Rockies, but was in LA the last two days. As you would imagine it’s frighting to see the fire situation in real life as it was unfolding. There was lack of information, false information, looting and even with all the bad, many good deeds.

The celebrity homes of Paris Hilton and Billy Crystal are reported to have burned. An unknown number of people died. Countless homes, belongings and valuables lost in a fast moving fireball. Nearly 180,000 people are evacuated currently. The news reports that 27 square miles have burned including 1,000 structures.
I snapped the above photo noonish Wednesday, on approach to John Wayne Airport.
As with many of you, I’m all to aware of the dangers of high wind powered fire, as we were in an evacuation zone and packed to leave our house when the Marshal fire burned the area just North of our home in Colorado in 2021. The news media sees a similar parallel between both fast moving wind fueled fires.

The hardest part to wrap your mind around, is that “home” is not permanent. It can feel that way for sure. Life changes, jobs change, family’s change – but most of the time, we come back to home. That is, until a life event forces us to move. We often talk about the life event data D’s that cause people to move, however, we do not consider Disasters in our process … but it is obviously a cause for moves.
Tom Ferry told me yesterday that he was advising around a dozen coaching clients that were affected by the fires in LA. The questions were as simple as “what do we do now? Our clients homes have burned”.
His response was spot on. “Your clients need a temporary home. They need a place to stay. Do you know anyone that owns hotels? Either way, call your clients, check in on them and find your clients free hotel rooms. If you know people that were effected, reach out and let them know you care, that you can help.”
Airbnb has also stepped up, offering free housing to displaced fire victims.
Similarly, I want to reach out to our Revaluate community. Please know that if you were affected by these fires, we can help with your account. Please reach out to our team [email protected]
Be safe, and take care of each other.
